Your Questions, Answered

The things couples ask us most, from how the evening runs to how you pay.

Frequently asked questions

What time do you play, and how does the evening run?

This is a guide rather than a rule. Every wedding runs to its own clock, and the best nights are the ones where we play it by ear. Here's how most of our evenings go.

We arrive at around 6.30pm. Setting up takes us about 40 minutes from the moment we're in the room to the end of the sound check, so we're ready before your evening guests start to arrive. If your meal is in the same room, we'll plan our set up around your speeches. All we ask for is two parking spaces, plus some food and soft drinks before we play or in the interval.

From around 7.30pm the disco plays while your evening guests come in, find a drink and say hello. One of the band runs it, so the music is already going when you walk back into the room.

At about 8.10pm you cut the cake, and your first dance follows. Straight after it, at around 8.15pm, we play our first live set. It's 45 minutes, long enough to get everyone up and short enough to leave them wanting more.

At 9pm the evening food usually comes out. The disco carries on while your guests eat, so the room never goes quiet.

At 10pm we're back for the second set, and this is the big one: 75 minutes of the songs that keep the floor full, finishing at about 11.15pm.

After that the disco takes you to the end of the night, usually 12.30am, depending on your venue's licence. We're with you for six hours on site as standard, and we pack down at the end of the night.

If you'd rather finish at midnight, we can arrive at 6pm and move everything forward. Tell us how you see your evening and we'll fit the sets around it.

How much do you charge?

Our fee varies with the time of year. A summer Saturday costs significantly more than a Tuesday in February, so we price every date individually. Travel is built into the price, and there's no VAT to add because the band isn't VAT registered. Send us your date and venue through the quote form and we'll reply with your exact price within 24 hours.

Do we need to provide sound and lighting?

No. For weddings we're completely self contained and bring a professional PA, stage lighting and disco lighting, so you don't have to worry about anything on the day. For corporate shows at very large venues, we provide a technical specification for your production company to work from, and we'll liaise with them to make sure everything runs smoothly.

Do we need to hire a stage?

No, it isn't something we provide and you don't need one. We're happy to perform on the floor in any clear, level area close to a power supply. If you'd like a stage anyway, your venue can put you in touch with one of their approved suppliers.

Our venue has a noise limiter. Is that a problem?

It depends on the threshold, and we'll always be straight with you about it. We bring an electric drum kit as standard at no extra charge, which makes a limiter far easier to work with, and we set our levels to it at sound check. A limiter does reduce volume and bass, and a very low threshold can make any live band the wrong fit, so tell us the details as early as you can.

Can we choose the songs?

Yes. Choose favourites from our set list, tell us any songs you definitely don't want, and share the styles you love, and we'll shape the night around it. Your free Guest Requests account lets your guests send requests too. Anything outside our set is at our discretion, so let us know early and we'll give you an answer.

Will you play our first dance live?

If the song suits a live three piece, yes, and at no extra cost. Tell us your song early so we can confirm. If it isn't a good fit for us, we'll play your chosen recording through our system so the moment sounds exactly as you want it.

Do you play in the afternoon?

Yes. Our singer can play a solo acoustic set for your ceremony, drinks reception or wedding breakfast. You're welcome to pick a few favourites, and we'll choose the rest to suit the moment. Ask when we send your quote and we'll add it to your price.

Are you insured?

Yes. Every booking includes £10,000,000 public liability insurance, and all our electrical equipment is PAT tested and certified. We send the certificates to your venue as standard, so just tell us who needs them.

How do we pay?

There are three options, all interest free: standard terms of 50% when you book with the balance due 28 days before your wedding, a monthly plan, or a four stage plan starting with 25%. If you'd prefer a smaller first payment, you can secure your date with £50 and move onto the monthly or four stage plan the following month. The plans carry a 1.8% administration fee, added to your quoted price. None of them are credit, so there's no credit search.

Do you need feeding?

We're low maintenance, but we do ask for some food and soft drinks, either before we play or in the interval between sets, which is how most weddings run. We also ask that you make sure there are two car parking spaces for us.

What happens if one of the band is ill?

It's extremely rare, but you're protected. A member can be replaced by a professional deputy so the performance holds its standard. If the whole band were ever unable to play, we'd do everything we can to find a comparable replacement, and if none were available, everything you've paid is refunded in full.
